Massachusetts African American Heritage Bike Route Network

The goal of this network is to create a series of bicycle routes through the state, educating the public about important African-American historical and heritage sites throughout the region.

The Cultural Production and Community-Engaged Learning programs at Brandeis University are interested in partnering with the network in order to create digital audio history tours that can be listened to safely as people bike along the designated routes. These digital audio files will be podcast and downloadable into ipods and MP3 audio players. We anticipate the audio tours will incorporate the voices of local community members, sharing historical memories of important people and events in Africa-American history. We may also explore obtaining permission to include relevant musical excerpts in the audio tours.
