Jonglei State Cultural Production Center

The Cultural Production Center is devoted to celebrating, supporting and documenting the rich cultures of the Southern Sudan, with a special emphasis on the regions of Jonglei State. We seek to train a new generation of artists, musicians, writers and dramatists committed to the artistic and cultural vitality of New Sudan. The Center will encourage traditional and modern arts, including painting, poetry, music, song, dance, video-making and digital arts
Our first goal is to build a physical Center for the Arts and Culture in Bor town. Our training and cultural enrichment programs are open to young men and women from 16 to 30 years old. Most of our instruction will be in English.

The Center director is Mr. Atem Aleu, a visual artist, cultural performer, and scholar of the cultures of southern Sudan. Please contact him at

The Friends of the Jonglei State Cultural Production Center is being incorporated and will seek 501(c)3 tax-exempt status.

The Center is partnering with the African Refugees Artists Club and Youth Development and the M.A. Program in Cultural Production at Brandeis University (in Waltham, Massachusetts, U.S.A.)
